We are pleased to announce that on Monday, May 18, 2026, Asahi Shimbun Digital featured the results of the "Email Security Survey of Domestic Universities" conducted by GMO Brand Security.

The article highlights the current state of email security at universities, based on our investigation of domains owned by 338 domestic universities (85 national, 93 public, and 160 private).

The survey results brought a stark reality to light: only 4.1% of surveyed universities have effective configurations for both SPF and DMARC—the primary defenses against email spoofing—leaving the vast majority in a "high-risk" state vulnerable to spoofed emails sent in their name.

GMO Brand Security remains committed to strengthening the cybersecurity measures of corporations and educational institutions through advanced research and analysis of domain and email security, contributing to a safer and more secure digital society.
