Case Study: As a “Social Responsibility” to Protect Customers — Hekikai Shinkin Bank Pioneered BIMI/VMC Implementation in 1 Year and 3 Months
Aiming to combat email spoofing and enhance customer trust, Hekikai Shinkin Bank completed an inventory of its email services, strengthened DMARC policy to "reject," and successfully implemented Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) and Verified Mark Certificates (VMC).
Hekikai Shinkin Bank is a community-based financial institution headquartered in Anjo City, Aichi Prefecture. In response to the growing social threat of domain spoofing and fraudulent money transfers, as well as stricter sender guidelines from major email providers, the bank determined that early action was essential as a "social responsibility" to protect its customers.
Operating across multiple email channels, the bank identified its email services and properly configured SPF and DKIM authentication for each. By utilizing a DMARC report analysis service to visualize current status, they safely and gradually enforced their policy up to "p=reject."
Concurrently, as an industry pioneer, Hekikai Shinkin Bank implemented BIMI and VMC to enable customers to identify authentic emails at a glance. Displaying their official logo directly in recipients' inboxes has supported brand protection, maintained customer trust, and contributed to a safe digital society.
